Wildlife Viewing
The Florence area offers fabulous bird and other wildlife viewing up and down the coast.

You can also watch a splendid herd of Roosevelt Elk (the Western US coastal elk Species) just west of Reedsport located about 22 miles south of Florence along Highway 101.

Umpqua Light House
There are so many things to do and see in the Florence area that it is not possible to describe them all.  This picture shows the Umpqua Lighthouse, one of the first of its kind to warn mariners about the danger of the rugged Oregon coast.

The Umpqua Lighthouse is located just south of Winchester Bay, where you can tour the lighthouse, ride the dunes, and fish for salmon or crab in the bay.

Winchester Bay is located about 25 miles south for Florence, just southwest of Reedsport along Highway 101.

The Florence Rhody Day Parade
Florence is known for its numerous activities, including perhaps the best, the "Rhody" Day parade in late May.  This is the time when wild and domestic rhododendrons abound in a fabulous display of color throughout the town and under the forest canopy!
